About the event
God speaks to us, most commonly, through the Bible. He reveals who He is, who we are and how to live well.
The theme for this study is Prayer. God has much to say about Prayer and the Bible gives us many examples of Prayer. Prayer is a conversation with God. God speaks with you and you speak with God. These readings are a beginning. Please follow the topic where the Father leads you as you explore further.
The Bible is our source of truth and authority.
The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
This powerful process will help you become skilled at hearing and obeying God.
1. Listen alone. Set aside a specific time alone each day, five days a week, to read. Mornings are great, but choose any time that works for you.
a. Begin praying, “Father, show me what you want me to see.”
b. As you read, highlight what stands out to you.
c. Questions to help you explore the reading are on each page.
2. Listen with a friend. Set aside at least ½ hour a day, five days a week to:
a. Discuss what stood out to you in the reading. (What God is saying to me?)
b. Think through what God is saying to the two of you. (What is God saying to us?)
c. Consider what God wants you to do. (What does God want me/us to do?)
d. Pray scripture together. (Turn a portion of the reading into a prayer, and pray together.)
You are invited to explore Prayer and the Prayers of the Bible.
We will read a theme related chapter every day of the week and then explore the themes together on Sunday.
